Masala Rice Recipe

Too lazy to make curry and rice? Make this Masala Rice by Recipe Factory that is very quick to make with simple ingredients. Unlike our everyday bland fried rice, this Masala Rice is loaded with spices which makes it interesting to eat by itself without any curry or side dish. A simple raita will do. 1. Basmati Rice – 2 Cups
2. Bengal Gram – 3 Tablespoons
3. Tomatoes – 1/2 Cup
4. Potato – 1/2 Cup
5. Onions – 1/2 Cup
6. Curry Leaves – 1/2 Cup
7. Coriander Leaves – 1/2 Cup
8. Green Chillies – 2
9. Salt – 1 1/2 Teaspoon
10. Chilli Powder – 1 1/2 Teaspoon
11. Coriander Seeds Powder – 1 Teaspoon
12. Cumin Seeds Powder – 1/2 Teaspoon
13. Garam Masala – 1/2 Teaspoon
14. Turmeric Powder – 1/2 Teaspoon
15. Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 Teaspoon

Recipe Notes for Masala Rice Recipe

Vegetables can be skipped or any other vegetables of choice could be added

Heat 2 tablespoons clarified butter (ghee) in pan

Add 1/2 cup onions and fry till they turn brown

Add green chillies and fry for a couple of minutes

Then add curry leaves, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder and mix

Add potato pieces, tomato pieces and mix

Close lid and cook till tomatoes become soft

Cook on low flame

Add 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste and mix

Fry for a minute and add 1 1/2 teaspoon salt or salt to taste and 1 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder

Then add 1 teaspoon coriander seeds powder, 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds powder and mix

Add 4 cups water for 2 cups rice and mix

Let the water boil

Add 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder and mix

Add 3 teaspoons bengal gram and mix

Soak bengal gram for 1/2 hour

This step could be skipped

Add washed soaked basmati rice and mix

Boil till water boils away

Add coriander leaves and mix

Cook on low flame for 5 minutes and cut off the stove

Open the lid after 5 minutes and serve hot
