Try this easy Matar Pulao, an indian rice recipe that can be made in a pressure cooker at home with ingredients that you can find easily in your kitchen. Kids not only enjoy this rice recipe at home,most importantly, they are sure to finish their lunch boxes in school!

Ingredients

1. Basmathi Rice – 2 Cups
2. Green Peas – 1/2 Cup
3. Tomatoes – 2
4. Potato – 1
5. Onion – 1
6. Green Chillies – 2
7. Mint Leaves – 1/2 Cup
8. Coriander Leaves – 1/2 Cup
9. Whole Garam Masala
10. Turmeric Powder – 1/2 Teaspoon
11. Ginger Garlic Paste – 1/2 Teaspoon
12. Coriander Seeds Powder – 1/2 Teaspoon
13. Chilli Powder – 1 Teaspoon
14. Salt – 1 Teaspoon

Recipe Notes for Matar Pulao

Let’s see how to make peas pulav

Wash and soak basmathi rice for 1/2 hour

Heat 2 tablespoons clarified butter (ghee) in a pan

Oil also could be used instead

Add whole garam masala and fry for a couple of minutes

Add diced onions and fry till they turn brown

Close lid and fry

Add chopped green chillies, potato and mix

Add tomato pieces now

Fry till tomatoes become soft

Add 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder and mix

After that, add 1 teaspoon chilli powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon coriander seeds powder and mix

Then add mint leaves, green peas and cook for 5 minutes on low flame

Close lid and cook

Add 4 cups water and mix

Close lid and bring water to boil

Add coriander leaves and mix

Add the soaked rice and mix

Close lid and cook on high flame for 10 minutes

Open lid and check if the rice is cooked

Stir once lightly, close lid and cook on low flame for 5 minutes

Close lid and cut off the stove

Serve hot!
